We use our eyes all day. Our vision guides us throughout the day through school, work, sports and other leisure activities. At Vision Center Direct we are dedicated to helping you maintain the best vision possible for as long as possible. State-of-the-art diagnostic equipment helps our doctors evaluate the health of your eyes on an ongoing basis. No matter how old the patient, from infancy to the golden years, you can rest assured that our doctors have the expertise and skills required to take care of your vision needs.
In emergencies call our office immediately. If the office is closed, our answering service will contact the doctor on call and get you the help you need.

Infants

For infants six months to one year of age, the doctors at Vision Center Direct participate in a nationwide program sponsored by Johnson & Johnson and the Canadian Optometric Association, providing free vision assessments. To get your infant's vision exam, just give us a call.

Preschool

As your child is developing to be ready for school it is important to ensure his/her vision is also developing properly. Vision problems can actually interfere with your child's overall development. Make sure your child gets an eye exam at three years and five years old.

School Age

How children can see has a profound impact on their development and ability to learn. In fact, almost 80% of the learning process during a child's first 12 years occurs through vision. One out of four children struggle with undetected vision problems that interfere with the child's ability to read and learn. According to the American Optometric Association, 60% of students identified as problem learners have undetected vision problems.

It is recommended that during school-age years your child should have an eye exam every year.

Adults

If you wear glasses, contacts or had LASIK, you should have an eye exam every year. However, if you don't, you should still have a complete eye exam every one to three years, depending upon age, risk factors, and physical condition. For example, if you have high blood pressure or diabetes you need to have an eye exam every year. In addition if you have a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration, you also need to be seen yearly.

Seniors

Early eye exams are critical during this stage of life. Eye diseases can rob you of your vision and interfere with your quality of life. Many eye health problems can develop without warning and progress with no symptoms. Early on, you might not even notice any changes in your vision. However, diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears and detachments, as well as other health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol can be detected with a thorough exam of the retina. The retina is the part of the eye that catches the image of what you are looking at, similar to the film in a camera.
